Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most about using DayList and its pricing.

Is DayList free to use?

Yes, you can use it for free. On the free plan you can register up to 15 birthdays and anniversaries, create up to 4 groups, and set up to 3 notifications. If you want no limits, try the premium plan (first month free, then $5/year).

How many entries can I register on the free plan?

You can register up to 15 birthdays and anniversaries, create up to 4 groups, and set up to 3 notifications. The premium plan removes the limits on entries and notifications, and lets you create up to 100 groups.

When do notifications arrive?

A push notification arrives on the day of each birthday or anniversary. You can choose from seven timings, from 1 hour to 30 days before, and combine up to 5 reminders per date — for example, 7 days before and the day before. Reminders can also fire on milestones such as day 100 or day 1,000.

Can I manage both birthdays and anniversaries?

Yes, you can register both. For birthdays the list automatically shows the current age, and for anniversaries such as your wedding day it shows how many years have passed. Notifications and the calendar view work for both.

What are groups?

Groups are containers for organizing the birthdays and anniversaries you register, such as family, friends, or work. You can assign a color to each group so they are easy to tell apart at a glance. You can create up to 4 groups on the free plan and up to 100 on the premium plan.

Can I see the number of days elapsed, not just the age?

Yes. The detail screen for each entry shows how many days have passed since the birthday or anniversary. It is also handy for spotting milestones like 10,000 days since birth.

I want to change the sort order of birthdays and anniversaries

You can change it in the app under Settings → Sort Order. Choose from Date Ascending, Date Descending, Name A → Z, and Name Z → A.

How do I change the display language?

In the app, go to Settings → Language to switch between 24 languages, including English and Japanese. You can change it in the app alone, without changing your iPhone language settings.

Is there an Android version?

DayList is currently available for iPhone (iOS) only; there is no Android version. You can download it for free from the App Store on your iPhone.

Can I transfer my data when I switch phones?

Yes. Your DayList data is stored in the cloud, linked to your Google account or Apple ID. Sign in with the same account on your new iPhone and your registered birthdays and anniversaries carry over.

How do I cancel the premium plan?

You can cancel anytime from the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. If you cancel during the free trial, you will not be charged.

Can I import birthdays that are already in my Contacts?

Yes. Choose "Import from Contacts" from the menu on the home screen to see everyone in your Contacts who has a birthday set. Pick only the people you want to add — nothing is imported without your selection. DayList only reads your Contacts and never modifies them.

Can I see the dates in the iPhone Calendar app too?

Yes. Choose "Export to Calendar" from the menu on the home screen, and your birthdays and anniversaries are written to a dedicated "DayList" calendar as yearly all-day events. This is available on the free plan. After you change entries in DayList, export again to rebuild the calendar with the latest dates.

Can I keep a record of gifts?

Yes. The "Gift log" section on each entry's detail screen lets you record what you gave and received, with a date and a note. The free plan stores up to 30 records per person, and the premium plan up to 500.
